WHEREAS, the Washington State Republican Party (WSRP) supports, without exception, the protections of freedoms provided by our Untied States Constitution; and
WHEREAS, The Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states, “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”;
WHEREAS, Washington State Initiative 1639, which took effect in 2019, significantly infringes upon the right of the people to keep and bear arms; and
WHEREAS, Initiative 1094 seeks to overturn I-1639 and specifically “This measure would remove requirements for sale or delivery of semiautomatic assault rifles, remove certain age limitations for pistols and semiautomatic assault rifles, repeal crimes regarding firearm storage, and change other firearms-related laws.”
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the WSRP herby supports signature gathering for Washington State Initiative 1094 to be completed by 28 December 2019; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the WSRP urges all Republicans and Republican
organizations to provide information that will help all voters in their areas understand the importance of I-1094 in overturning I-1639.
